Tuning Reactive Species Production of Graphitic Carbon Nitride via Oxygen Doping

Yash Shah and L.M. Gilbertson
ACS Sustainable Chemistry & Engineering
DOI: 10.1021/acssuschemeng.5c01792
What is the environmental significance?

Oxygen doping of graphitic carbon nitride broadens its absorption in the visible region and increases the production of reactive species exclusive of the high energy UV wavelengths. Since generating nonsolar UV light is energy-intensive, enhancing the ability to function effectively without UV light reduces the overall energy demand of the photocatalytic process, contributing to more sustainable applications of carbon nitride.

Peltophorum pterocarpum Leaf Extract Mediated Green Synthesis of Novel Iron Oxide Particles for Application in Photocatalytic and Catalytic Removal of Organic Pollutants

Yash Shah, M. Maharana, and S. Sen
Springer Biomass Conversion & Biorefinery
DOI: 10.1007/s13399-021-02189-z
What is the environmental significance?

Using Peltophorum pterocarpum leaf extract as a reducing agent replaces toxic chemicals typically used in nanoparticle synthesis. The resulting iron oxide materials effectively remove organic pollutants, advancing sustainable, low-toxicity routes for nanomaterial production and wastewater treatment applications.
